MARVIN GAYE WOULD HAVE BEEN 72 TODAY

Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984) is ranked as Tamla Records  
top-selling solo artist during the sixties. In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine 
ranked Gaye at number 6 on its list of The Greatest Singers of All Time, 
and ranked at number 18 on 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 1987,
he was posthumously inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Actress Pamela Reed  is most known as the voice of Ruth Powers in various
episodes of FOX-TV’s The Simpsons, and as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s partner
in the 1990 ,filmed in Oregon movie Kindergarten Cop. She currently appears
as Marlene Griggs-Knope on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. Reed was
was born in Tacoma, Washington.

DALLAS DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1978

The prime-time TV soap Dallas premiered as a five-part miniseries on CBS,
followed by a thirteen season run until May 3, 1991. The show revolved around
the Ewing’s, a wealthy Texas family in the oil and cattle ranching industries. Larry
Hagman stars as the greedy, scheming oil baron J.R. Ewing and Patrick Duffy
as his younger brother Bobby. The show also starred veteran actress Barbara
Bel Geddes as the head of the family Miss Ellie. Dallas was included in Time
magazine’s 2007 list of "100 Best TV Shows of All Time”.
