People Candice Bergen

Actress Candice Patricia Bergen is a former fashion model is best known for
starring roles in two TV series, the CBS sitcom Murphy Brown (1988-1998),
for which she won five Emmy Awards ands two Golden Globe Awards, and the
ABC comedy-drama Boston Legal (2004-2008). She starred in several major
films throughout the mid 1960s to early 1980s such as The Sand Pebbles
(1966), and Gandhi (1982) and received an Academy Award nomination
for her role in Starting Over (1979). Bergen’s later career includes a role
in the 2000 film Miss Congeniality.

THE DEBUT OF KRAFT TELEVISION THEATER

The TV drama series Kraft Television Theater began on May 7, 1947
on NBC airing on Wednesday evenings until  October 1, 1958.The live
hour-long series offered plays with new  stories and new characters each
week and was sponsored by Kraft Foods. Kraft Television Theater launched
the careers of more than a few actors, directors and playwrights, including
future Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress Hope Lange.

Floyd Bennett (left) pioneer aviator piloted the explorer Richard E. Byrd (right) on the first successful flight over the North Pole on May 9, 1926. For this feat both Bennett and Byrd received the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor. Floyd Bennett Airport in Brooklyn, N.Y., was named for him in 1931.
