NUMBER ONE SINGLE ON THIS DAY IN 1975

The-Staple-Singers-

“Let’s Do It Again”, written by Curtis Mayfield, was part of the soundtrack for the
Bill Cosby/Sidney Poitier movie of the same name. It was the last single to reach
the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1975.

In 1999, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Pops Staples
died of complications from a concussion suffered in December 2000. In 2005, the
group was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
