territorial capital

Territorial capital at Corvallis, Oregon, 1880

The above building served as Oregon’s territorial capitol for a short period of time
when the territorial legislature met in Corvallis on December 3, 1855. It was located
on the northwest corner of Second Street and Adams Avenue. The legislature later
assembled in Salem on December 18, 1855, where it has stayed since.
