The pilot for Dragnet, "The Human Bomb", adapted from the July 21, 1949 radio
radio episode, aired on television on December 16, 1951 as a special presentation
of the NBC program Chesterfield Sound-Off Time. After the pilot’s success, the
regular series debuted 0n Thursday, January 3, 1952 with the episode titled
“The Big Actor”.
