Lyle Waggoner was an announcer and skit player on
The Carol Burnett
Show
from 1967 to 1974 and played Steve Trevor in
The New Adventures 
of Wonder Woman
in 1975. Prior to joining Carol Burnett, Waggoner was
a finalist for the title role in the TV series version of Batman

Waggoner retired from full-time acting to run Star Waggons, a company
he founded in 1979 that leases customized trailers for the entertainment 
industry, the largest such supplier in the country. He will occasionally
make guest appearances.

Daniel Sexton Gurney had been a race car driver, constructor, and team owner
since 1958. Gurney also won races in the
Indy Car, NASCAR, Can-Am, and Trans-
Am Series
. At the 1968 German Grand Prix he became the first driver ever to use
a full face helmet in Grand Prix racing.

Dan Gurney won his first Grand Prix victory with his Porsche in the French Grand Prix at Rouen in 1962.

MEMORIAL DEDICATED ON THIS DAY IN 1943

The $3,000,000 Jefferson Memorial was officially dedicated by President Roosevelt
(left) on April 13, 1943, the 200th anniversary of Jefferson’s birthday. At that time, 
the statue of Jefferson had not yet been finished,due to material shortages during
World War II. The statue that was installed at the time was a plaster cast of the
sculptors work that had been painted to look like bronze. The finished
bronze
