A CLASSIC HIT FROM 1959

The R&B version of Glenn Miller’s 1940 hit “In the Mood”
reached #4 on the
Billboard chart.

Rendezvous Records folded in late 1963, and Fields retired
soon after. He died in May 1997, at the age of 91. His son is
the saxophonist and bandleader Ernie Fields, Jr.

SILENT FILM STAR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1864

William Surrey Hart
(December 6, 1864 – June 23, 1946)

William S, Hart was a silent film actor, screenwriter, director and
producer.who was one to the first great stars of western motion
pictures. He was fascinated by the history of the Old West and
acquired Billy the Kid’s pistols and was a friend of legendary
lawmen Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson. He entered the film
industry in 1914 playing supporting roles .



After Tumbleweeds, Hart’s final film, he retired to his
California, ranch
home,“La Loma de los Vientos”.
