FILM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1970

let it be

Let It Be is a 1970 documentary film about The Beatles rehearsing
and recording songs for the Let It Be album in January of 1969. The
film features a rooftop concert by the group, their last performance
in public. It was originally planned as a television documentary that
would accompany a concert broadcast, but when the TV plans were
cancelled, the project became a feature film and the final original
Beatles release.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr
collectively won an
Academy Award for Best Original Song Score
for the film.
