A FIRST FOR ELVIS ON THIS DAY IN 1958

Elvis-Presley-hair cut
Barber James B. Peterson with his electric razor in hand and Elvis
Presley in the chair

Elvis Presley’s ducktail hairstyle and famous sideburns were removed
as he received his first regulation short haircut from US Army barber
James Peterson. A clump of Elvis’ hair went up for bid in March, 2010
at a Chicago auction house, selling for $15,000.

The former Army building at Fort Chaffee, Ark., where Elvis got  the
haircut, could be designated as an historical landmark.
