IT’S BOBBY RYDELL’S BIRTHDAY

Bobby Rydell (Robert Louis Ridarelli) is 72 today

Bobby won a talent competition on Paul Whitman’s TV Teen Club and
became a regular on the series. Well known singles by the early 1960s
teen idol include,”Wild One” and “Volare”. He also appeared in the 1963
film Bye Bye Birdie.

Rydell underwent major surgery In July 2012 when he had a double organ
transplant to replace his liver and kidneys. In January 2013, six months after 
the surgery, he returned to the stage in Las Vegas for a three night gig to a
sold out audience. He continues to perform internationally and he returned to 
tour Australia this year. It’s hard to keep a good man down! Happy Birthday
Bobby!

Grammy Award-winning guitarist Duane Eddy had a string of hit records
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, produced by Lee Hazlewood. They
are noted for their distinctive ‘’twangy” sound. He had sold 12 million
records by the year 1963. These singles included "Rebel Rouser",
"Peter Gunn", and "Because They’re Young”. Duane Eddy was
inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the
Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2008.
