Nixons-with-their-Marriage-License
Then attorney Richard Nixon and his bride pose with their newly acquired
marriage license in front of a fireplace at the Mission Inn.

On January 16, 1938, Richard M. Nixon met Thelma C. Ryan, a schoolteacher
who went by the name of ”Pat”, at a rehearsal for a community play in which
they were both acting. The couple were later married in a small ceremony in
the Presidential Suite of the Mission Inn in Riverside, California. With only
family and a dozen friends in attendance, the couple exchanged vows in
front of a Quaker minister and left for a two week honeymoon in Mexico.
