BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1912

 
Foster Brooks (May 11, 1912 – December 20, 2001)

Actor Foster Brooks was a drunk on TV, but straight as an
arrow in real life. He received an Emmy nomination in 1974 
for his portrayal of the lovable lush comedian on The Dean
Martin Show
(NBC). He started his career in radio working
as a staff announcer in his home town of Louisville, Kentucky.

NONPROFIT FOUNDED ON THIS DAY IN 1816

American Bible Society is a non-denominational, nonprofit organization, founded 
in New York City which provides study aids and other tools to help people read 
and understand the Bible. It is best known for its Good News Translation of the
Bible. They also publish the Contemporary English Version. The society’s
headquarters building is presently located in New York City (above), but will
soon be moving to Philadelphia.
