SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1957


Pattie Page (Clara Ann Fowler) (November 8, 1927 – January 1, 2013)

The New York based music program The Big Record was sponsored by
Oldsmobile and hosted by singer Patti Page with Vic Schoen conducting
the orchestra. Patti would welcome big name guests of the music and
recording industry. The show was a mix of young and old performers
joining together for a musical hour, later shortened to half an hour in
length. It aired on CBS television for only one season.

SITCOM DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1965


The Patty Duke Show ran on ABC television from September 18, 1963,
to April 27, 1966, with reruns airing through August 31.



Anna Marie "Patty" Duke will be 69 in December.

SWEDISH STAR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1905

Greta Garbo (Greta Lovisa Gustafsson)
(September 18, 1905 – April 15, 1990)

Actress Greta Garbo starred in Camille in 1937. For her role in
the 1935 film, Anna Karenina, she received a New York Film
Critics Circle Award for Best Actress. Her first job was as a
soap-lather girl in a barbershop.

Frankie Avalon was born Francis Thomas Avallone in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Avalon appeared with Annette Funicello in several beach party
movies during the mid-60s. His song "Why" became the last #1
hit of the 1950s. He played the trumpet during his first television
appearance at age twelve.
