Sir Sidney Poitier is celebrating his 89th birthday today.

Poitier spent time working as a dishwasher while his friends assisted
him in learning how to read the newspaper and speak without a
Bahamian accent. The American Film Institute called him one of
the 25 Greatest Male Stars of All Time in 1999.

Cool here just to remind the boss that “They Call Me Mr. Tibbs” released July 8th 1970 (probably before you were born boss, hehehe) as the follow up movie to “In The Heat Of The Night” was also a great Sidney Poitier movie!

Cool here with another note worth mentioning! Being of sound (musical) mind, not to sure about the body though, I remember that recording artist / actress Lulu gave us the title song from “To Sir With Love” which topped the Billboard chart for five weeks in 1967 and was also the number song of the year according to Billboard! Lulu was also married to Bee Gee Maurice Gibb 1969 – 1973.
