POPULAR GUITARIST HAS DIED AT 72


Henry Campbell Liken McCullough (21 July 1943 – 14 June 2016)

McCullough was a Northern Irish guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. He was
best known for his work as a member of Spooky Tooth, Paul McCartney &
Wings
, The Grease Band and Sweeney’s Men. He also performed and
recorded as a solo artist and session musician. His wife Josie confirmed
that he had died at home earlier this morning. McCullough suffered a
heart attack in November 2012, leaving him with many health problems..

Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe was born in Litchfield, CT.
(June 14, 1811 – July 1, 1896)


Abolitionist author Harriet Beecher Stowe’s literary classic, Uncle
Tom’s Cabin
, encouraged anti-slavery efforts in the Northern
states. Her other numerous literary works include novels, letters,
articles, and travel memoirs. She received a first-class education
at a school run by her sister and later supported the Underground
Railroad and housed several fugitive slaves.

The track “Yesterday” was recorded at Abbey Road Studios immediately
following the taping of "I’m Down", and four days before McCartney’s 23rd
birthday. McCartney’s vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string
quartet
, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band.

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of
the
United States
, which happened on June 14th.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established
June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act
of
Congress
. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday.

The oldest continuing Flag Day parade is in Fairfield, Washington. It began in 1909
or 1910, Fairfield has held a parade every year since.
