SINGLE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1959

The single “Personality” reached #2 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot
100
and became one of Lloyd Price’s most popular crossover hits. It was
also a #1 R&B hit, maintaining that top spot for four weeks. Billboard
ranked it as the No. 3 song for 1959.

FIRST RECORD DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1957

The song "A Teenager’s Romance" is a song written by David Gillam and
performed by Ricky Nelson. It reached #2 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1957
and was ranked #25 on Billboard magazine’s Top Hot 100 songs of the same 
year. The records A-side, "I’m Walkin’", reached #4 on the Billboard chart  
and #10 on the R&B chart.

Robert Jonathan Demme (February 22, 1944 – April 26, 2017)

The acclaimed director of "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991) and "Philadelphia"
(1993) Jonathan Demme passed away in New York on Wednesday.

According to family sources, he had been battling esophageal cancer and died 
of complications from heart disease.
