MUSIC HISTORY WAS MADE ON THIS DAY

"Sgt. Pepper" by the Beatles

On this day in history, June 1, 1967, the Beatles released "Sgt.
Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band," their 8th album — which
became the soundtrack to the "Summer of Love," according
to the official website of the Beatles.

With its 13 songs, the album was recorded in over 400 hours
during a 129-day period.

On a return airplane flight to London in November 1966, Paul
McCartney thought of the idea for this album.

BEATLES BEAK UP ANNOUNCED ON THIS DAY

BEATLES MAGAZINE: PAUL ANNOUNCED THE BREAKUP OF THE BEATLES ON THIS DAY IN 1970

(FOXNEWS) – The short but winding road that made the Beatles
the greatest  recording act and
pop-culture sensation of all time
ended publicly on this day in history, April 10, 1970.

Paul McCartney announced a "break with the Beatles" in press
materials that accompanied the scheduled release of his first
solo album a week later (below).

His announcement confirmed months of rumors about the
band’s dissolution.

"Personal differences, business differences, musical differences,
but most of all because I have a better time with my family,"
McCartney said in the statement.

DYLAN DEBUT ALBUM RELEASED IN 1962

Bob Dylan’s  debut studio album was produced by Columbia talent
scout
John H. Hammond, who had earlier signed Dylan to the label,
a decision which was at the time controversial. The album primarily features folk standards, but also includes two original compositions, "
Talkin’ New York" and "Song to Woody". The latter was an ode to Woody Guthrie, a major influence in Dylan’s early career.

The album did not initially receive much attention, but it achieved
some popularity following the growth of Dylan’s career, charting
in the UK three years after its release, reaching #13.
