A launch pad fire during Apollo program tests at Cape Canaveral,
Florida, killed astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom, Edward H. White
II, and Roger B. Chaffee. An investigation indicated that a faulty
electrical wire inside the Apollo 1 command module was the
probable cause of the fire. The astronauts, the first Americans
to die in a spacecraft, had been participating in a simulation of
the Apollo 1 launch scheduled for the following month.

by a tornado could be without heat, water and electricity in chilly temperatures for a "long time," the mayor warned Monday, as
officials struggled to restore services after a swarm of twisters
leveled neighborhoods and killed dozens of people in five states.

Rev. Graham was an American evangelist, a prominent evangelical Christian figure, and an ordained Southern Baptist minister who
became well known internationally in the late 1940s. One of his biographers has placed him "among the most influential Christian leaders" of the 20th century.
