Aretha Louise Franklin (March 25, 1942 – August 16, 2018)


Aretha Franklin, the “Queen of Soul” has died after a battle with advanced
pancreatic cancer.

Franklin received numerous honors throughout her career including a 1987 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in which she became the first
female performer to be inducted.

Charlotte Rae (Lubotsky)  (April 22, 1926 – August 5, 2018)

(Fox  News) – Charlotte Rae, the Emmy and Tony-nominated actress who entertained TV audiences as Mrs. Garrett on "The Facts of Life" and
"Different Strokes,"

The actress passed away Sunday in her home in Los Angeles, surrounded
by family, according to her publicist, who did not provide a cause of death.

Rae was best known for her role as beloved housemother Edna Garrett,
who first appeared on "Diff’rent Strokes" in 1978 before earning her own
spinoff, "The Facts of Life," the following year.

Tab Hunter (Arthur Andrew Kelm) (July 11, 1931 – July 8, 2018)


(Fox News) – Tab Hunter, the 1950s Hollywood heartthrob who appeared in
more than 40 films including “Damn Yankees!" (1958) and also made a name
for himself in the music industry, has died. A rep for the actor told
The
Hollywood Reporter
that Hunter died Sunday, three days shy of his 87th
birthday, from a blood clot in his leg that caused cardiac arrest. A close
friend called Hunters passing…”sudden and unexpected.”

RARE BATTLE HAT SOLD ON ANNIVERSARY

Napoleon wore this hat at the battle of Waterloo on this day in 1815.

(Fox News) – An extremely rare ‘bicorne,’ or 2-pointed hat, that was worn by Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo was sold at auction in France
for $325,000 on Monday.

The hat went under the hammer for $325,052 at Lyon-based auction house
De Baecque. The hat had a pre-sale estimate of $34,881 to $46,441.

The auction house told Fox News the bicorne was bought by a private
European collector who is "passionate" about the period of the First
French Empire.

Barbara Bush (Pierce) (June 8, 1925 – April 17, 2018)

Barbara Bush was the wife of George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United
States
, and served as the First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She
served as the
Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. She was the
mother of
George W. Bush, the 43rd President, and Jeb Bush, the 43rd Governor
of Florida
. On April 15, 2018, it was announced that Bush would no longer seek
medical treatment and had instead chosen the option of "comfort care
". Bush died
in her Houston home today.
