Local children’s show host, Heck Harper was the foreman  of KPTV’s
”Bar 27 Corral” from November, 1953 to November,1956. Heck would
welcome his “Ranch Hands” to the show which featured Heck’s
singing and guitar playing, story telling and  showing  portions
of a cowboy movie through the week. Heck was most remembered
for his happy birthday song. Heck Harper’s show moved to KGW TV
where it  was called “Heck Harper’s Cartoon Corral”. He passed
away as a result of Leukemia at the age of 79. Heck Harper was
one of Portland’s greatest citizens! He made a lasting impact on
many of us and was never replaced.
