Blake Edwards, director of Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) and The
Pink Panther
(1963) died from complications of Pneumonia
Wednesday evening. He was 88.

HEART TRANSPLANT ON THIS DATE IN 1967

Dr. Christian Barnard, along with a team of Cardiac
Surgeons,  performed the world’s first successful
human heart transplant in Cape Town, South Africa. 
The patient, Louis Washkansky, a 54-year-old grocer
survived for 18 days after the operation and died of
Pneumonia.

LESLIE NIELSEN HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 84

Pneumonia at a hospital near his home in Florida.
