Remember getting the greatest toy catalogs from M&F Co. They were done on this super high gloss paper and every toy just jumped off the pages. Toyland at M&F was magical. Today that store is just another space with stuff in it. No magic …..it is gone. We would walk the whole block looking at the incredible window displays…Then enter the store that was so wonderful. Clerks would all welcome you to the store and the ladies sitting on the stools in the elevators calling out the floors…Hard to explain to a youngster today, with ipods, web buying, faceless Target stores and even the high end like Nordstroms just can’t hold a candle.
Well described Mr. R…….and the elevator ladies would be walking up and down clicking their ‘beetle’ clippers (weren’t those things used in the War too??)
CLICKERS!! (I can’t find the remove comment button!!)
