Tarzan of the Apes is a silent, black and white action adventure film directed by Scott Sidney and stars Elmo Lincoln as Tarzan and Enid markey as Jane (both shown in the above poster).The movie was the first Tarzan movie ever made, and is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ original novel of the same name. The movie was filmed in Morgan City, Louisiana utilizing Louisiana swamps as stand ins for African jungles. The movie is considered to be the most faithful to the novel of all the film adaptations. The film premiered at the Broadway Theater in New York.
