IRONSIDE DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1967

Ironside is a Universal television series which ran on NBC from September
14, 1967 to January 16, 1975. The show starred Raymond Burr (above) as
the Wheelchair-confined Chief of Detectives, Robert T. Ironside. Burr’s 
character debuted in a made for TV movie. The show earned Burr six
Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations.  

The opening theme music was written by Quincy Jones and was the first
synthesizer-based television theme song.

SUMMERTIME BLUES RECORDED ON THIS DATE IN 1958

Summertime Blues was written in the late 1950s by Eddie Cochran
and his manager Jerry Capehart. Originally a single B-side, it peaked
at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 29, 1958.
