  1. JOE COOK says:

In 1944, while Chuck was still at Sumner High School, he was arrested and convicted of armed robbery after robbing three shops in Kansas City and then stealing a car at gunpoint with some friends. Chuck’s own account of the incident was that his car broke down and flagged down a passing car and stole it at gun point with a non-functional pistol. He was sent to the Intermediate Reformatory for Young Men at Algoa, Mo where he formed a singing quartet and did some boxing. After his release from the reformatory he trained as a beautician at the Poro College of Cosmetology, In his long and storied carreer, Chuck has had 27 Billboard Top 40 hits with only one # 1, “My Ding-A-Ling” in 1972. January 19, 2011, Chuck performed his usual monthly gig at Blueberry Hill, but frequently appeared disoriented. He has been a great influence on many of our great rock ledgends.
