Jessica Tandy became the oldest actress to receive the Academy Award for
Best Actress for her role in Driving Miss Daisy (1989), for which she also won
a BAFT and a Golden Globe, and was nominated for an Academy Award for
Best Supporting Actress for Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). She was named
as one of People’s “50 Most Beautiful People” in 1990.

Dean Martin was a popular singer,film actor, television star and comedian, best
known for being half of the comedy team, Martin and Lewis (above). Martin’s hit
singles included “Memories Are Made of This” (1956), and “Everybody Loves Somebody” (1964). Nicknamed the “King of Cool”, Martin was one of the 
members of the “Rat Pack” (below).

Actor Liam Neeson has been nominated for an Oscar, the United Kingdom’s
BAFTA and three Golden Globe Awards. He is best remembered in the role
of Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List (1993). Neeson was
also in Batman Begins (2005), Star Wars Episode l:The Phantom Menace
(1999), and Taken (2009).

TV QUIZ SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1955

The $64,000 Question was a CBS-TV game show that premiered June 7, 1955
and ran till 1958. The host of the show was Hal March (below) It was sponsored by cosmetics maker Revlon and originating from the start live from CBS-TV studio 52
in New York. The game show’s first contestant was a housewife from Trenton, New Jersey who won a 1955 Cadillac Convertible. The $64,000 Question later became embroiled in the scandals involving TV quiz shows of the day.
