First issue

The Meredith Corporation is a media conglomerate based in Des Moines,
Iowa. Edwin Thomas Meredith (below) founded the company in 1902 when
he began publishing Successful Farming magazine. On July 3, 1922, the
company began publishing Fruit, Garden and Home magazine, a home and
family service publication. Two years later, this magazine was retitled Better
Homes and Gardens.
In 1930, they published the first edition of the Better
Homes and Gardens Cook Book.

Publisher Edwin Thomas Meredith was appointed as United States
Secretary of Agriculture during the Woodrow Wilson administration,
serving from 1920 to 1921.
