“Sleep Walk” climbed to the number-one position for two weeks in September of
1959 (the 21st and the 28th) and remained in the Top 40 until November 9. It
also reached number four on the R&B chart. The song earned Santo & Johnny
a gold record.
Santo Farina has retired from active performing, while his
brother Johnny (above) has kept the magical steel guitar
sound alive performing as a solo artist.
