Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, manufacture of the famous
line of Fender solid-body electric guitars and amplifiers, was founded
in 1946 by Leo Fender in Fullerton, California. On January 4, 1965,
Leo Fender sold his companies to the Columbia Broadcasting System
(CBS) for $13 million. This was reportedly almost two million more than
they had been paid for The New York Yankees the previous year.
