  President Lyndon Baines Johnson signing the Civil Rights Act.

President Johnson signed the Act (which was also know as the Civil Rights
Act of 1968), which banned discrimination on sale or rental of housing. The
bill also gave federal protection to civil right worker and made it a federal
crime to cross state lines for the purpose of inciting a riot.
