TV SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1950
Robert Montgomery Presents is a dramatic television series which was produced
by NBC from January 30, 1950 until June 24, 1957. It was one of the top big-
budget “live” anthology series of “The Golden Age of Television”. The show
had several sponsors during its seven-year run, and the title was altered to
feature the sponsor, for example, Robert Montgomery Presents Your Lucky
Strike Theater, and The Johnson’s Wax Program.
ROD McKUEN HAS DIED AT 81
Rodney Marvin "Rod" McKuen (April 29, 1933 – January 29, 2015)
Rod McKuen was one of the best-selling poets in the United States during
the late 1960s. Throughout his career, McKuen produced a wide range of
recordings, which included popular music, spoken word poetry, classical
music and film soundtracks. He earned two Oscar nominations and one
Pulitzer nomination for his serious music compositions. He died today of
respiratory arrest, a result of pneumonia, at a hospital in Beverly Hills,
California.
