Percy Sledge (November 25, 1941 – April 14, 2015)

Percy Sledge, who soared from part-time singer and hospital
orderly to lasting fame with his aching, forlorn performance on
the 1966 classic "When a Man Loves a Woman," died of natural
causes in hospice care early this morning in Louisiana.

This number-one hit in 1966 was Sledge’s debut single.
