James Maitland "Jimmy" Stewart (May 20, 1908 – July 2, 1997)
Stewart won the Best Actor Academy Award for his role in the 1940 film,
“The Philadelphia Story”. He earned an Oscar nomination for his starring
role in the 1946 film, ”It’s A Wonderful Life”. Jimmy Stewart is also best
remembered for his performances in many of Alfred Hitchcock‘s films,
including: “Rear Window” (1954), “Vertigo” (1958), and “The Man Who
Knew Too Much” (1956). He also had a noted military career and was a
World War II and Vietnam War veteran, who rose to the rank of Brigadier
General in the United States Air Force Reserve.
