Estelle Louise Fletcher was born in Birmingham, Alabama.
She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Nurse
Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975). Her other
notable films include Cruel Intentions (1999), and Flowers in the
Attic (1987). She worked as a secretary by day and took acting
lessons by night.
