FIRST PERFORMED BY BAND ON THIS DAY IN 1929

 

                

Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians played "Auld Lang Syne" as a New
Year’s Eve song for the first time. The song is a Scots poem written by Robert
Burns
(below) in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song.

Hopkins was encouraged by actor Richard Burton to pursue a 
acting career at age 15. His daughter, Abigail Hopkins, is a
singer and actress.

Donna’s first public performance occurred when she was ten
years old. She had four #1 singles on the charts within thirteen
months of each other.
