NEW LABEL RELEASE ON THIS DAY IN 1956

The song "Heartbreak Hotel" was Elvis Presley’s first on his new record label RCA
Victor
. It topped Billboard‘s Top 100 chart for seven weeks, Cashbox‘s pop singles
chart for six weeks, it was number one on the Country and Western chart for a total 
of seventeen weeks and reached number three on the R&B chart. The record was
Presley’s first million-seller, and one of the best-selling singles of 1956. Guitarist
Chet Atkins and pianist Floyd Cramer added their talents to the recording session.
