NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1971

The Osmonds song first It hit the top of the chart on February 13,
1971 and stayed there for five weeks. It also reached number six
on the R&B chart. It was written by George Jackson, who originally
had the Jackson 5 in mind for the song.  "One Bad Apple" was also
used as the theme to The Osmonds cartoon show on ABC-TV.

JOANNE WOODWARD IS 86 TODAY

 


Joanne Gignilliat Trimmier Woodward was born in Georgia. 

Woodward won the Academy Award for Best Actress for portraying
three characters in the 1957 film Three Faces of Eve. She gained
further recognition after marrying movie star Paul Newman in 1958.

Before fame in her youth, Joanne Woodward won multiple beauty
pageants.


Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman were married until
Newman’s death in 2008 at age 83.

Levi Strauss (born Löb Strauß)
(February 26, 1829 – September 26, 1902)

Strauss was a GermanAmerican businessman of German
Jewish
descent who founded the first company to manufacture
blue jeans. His firm, Levi Strauss & Co., began in 1853 in San
Francisco
, California.
