SINGER-SONGWRITER IS 71 TODAY


Robert Clark "Bob" Seger was born in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Rock and roll singer-songwriter Bob Seger rose to fame in the 1970s,
achieving success both as a solo artist and as the frontman for the
silver Bullet Band. His many popular songs include "Turn the Page,"
"Night Moves," "Old Time Rock & Roll" and "Against the Wind."  He
also co-wrote the Eagles’ song "Heartache Tonight," from their hit
1979 album The Long Run. The song reached #1 on the Billboard
Hot 100 and the single sold over a million copies. Seger has stated
that singer Little Richard was the artist who inspired him to become

The album Sticky Fingers is the ninth British and 11th studio album by the
English rock band The Rolling Stones, released. It is the band’s first album
of the 1970s and its first release on the band’s newly formed label, Rolling
Stones Records
. It is also Mick Taylor‘s first full-length appearance on a
Rolling Stones album, the first Rolling Stones album not to feature any
contributions from guitarist and founder Brian Jones and the first one on
which singer Mick Jagger is credited with playing guitar.

SINGLE RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1966

Frank Sinatra’s Strangers in the Night reached number one on both the
Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Easy Listening chart, it was the title song
for Sinatra’s 1966 album Strangers in the Night, which became his most
commercially successful album.

SINGLE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1968

The song "Mrs. Robinson" by the duo Simon & Garfunkel is from their fourth
studio album, Bookends. It is famous for its inclusion in the 1967 film The
Graduate
 and became the duo’s second chart-topper, hitting number one
on the Billboard Hot 100, and peaking within the top 10 in other countries

ALBUM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1963

Surfin’ U.S.A. is the second studio album released by the Beach Boys. It
reached number two in the US, lasting 78 weeks on the albums chart,
eventually being certified gold by the RIAA.
