OSCAR-WINNING ANIMATOR HAS DIED AT 86

Richard Edmund Williams (March 19, 1933 – August 16, 2019)

LONDON (AP) — Richard Williams, a Canadian-British animator whose work
on the bouncing cartoon bunny in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988) helped
blur the boundaries between the animated world and our own, has died. His 
daughter, Natasha Sutton Williams, said the Oscar-winning artist died from
 
cancer at his home in Bristol, England on Friday.

CREATOR OF ANIMATED SERIES DIES AT 57

Stephen McDannell Hillenburg (August 21, 1961 – November 26, 2018)


LOS ANGELES (AP) – "SpongeBob SquarePants" creator Stephen Hillenburg
has died.

Nickelodeon says Hillenburg died Monday of Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known
as ALS.

Hillenburg conceived, wrote, produced and directed the animated series that
began in 1999 and went on to spawn hundreds of episodes, movies and a
Broadway show.

He began his animation career in 1987, pursuing a degree in Experimental Animation at the California Institute of Arts in Valencia and earning his
Master of Fine Arts in 1992.

Sting (Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) is 67 years old today.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer for The Police, Sting is known for such
hits as "Don’t Stand So Close to Me" and "Message in a Bottle." He also
became a successful solo artist, releasing his first album The Dream of
the Blue Turtles in 1985, followed by ten more albums within the next

Ed Asner is an actor, voice actor and a former president of the
Screen Actors Guild. He is primarily known for his role as Lou
Grant
during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both The Mary
Tyler Moore Show
and its spin-off series Lou Grant (both CBS),
making him one of the few television actors to portray the same
leading character in both a comedy and a drama. He is also
known for playing Santa Claus in the comedy film Elf (2003)
and its animated remake Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas
(2014). He attended the University of Chicago and served
in the U.S. Signal Corps.
