The 1977 Pontiac Trans Am owned by Burt Reynolds.

Burt Reynolds has sold his black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am at auction for
$450,000. It was only a promotional vehicle from his hit movie Smokey
and the Bandit
, and is not one of the actual cars used in the film.

The vehicle had only been expected to fetch $60,000 to $80,000, according
to Julien’s Auction, which conducted auction of a wide range of Reynolds
memorabilia over the weekend in Las Vegas. The auction house says that
the car had been given to Reynolds to help promote the movie, which co-
starred Sally Field, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – It’s no secret Joe DiMaggio loved Marilyn
Monroe. The baseball great cried at her funeral and for 20 years had
flowers placed at her crypt several times a week.

The public displays were unusual for the famously stoic and private
DiMaggio. Now, his heartbreak over the breakup of their marriage will
get a rare public airing when "Marilyn Monroe’s Lost Archives" goes up
for bid at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills next month.

The 300 items also include love letters from Monroe’s third and final
husband, playwright Arthur Miller.

The seller is Michael Eisenberg, a California businessman who once co-owned
a Los Angeles motorcycle-themed restaurant with Fonda and "Easy Rider" co-

Artist Bob Kane (born Robert Kahn; October 24, 1915 – November 3, 1998)

NEW YORK (AP) – Batman creator Bob Kane’s own copies of the Caped
Crusader’s earliest appearances are going up for auction. The comics
come from the collection of Hollywood screenwriter Bob Underwood.

ComicConnect is selling Kane’s file copies of Detective Comics Nos. 27
through 45 and Batman Nos. 1 through 3. The auction house declined to
put an estimate on their value, saying such items rarely come up for sale.

The sale also has a nearly mint copy of the first Incredible Hulk comic book,
a 1962 issue that is one of four copies known to exist. It could bring as much
as $300,000.

There is also a 1942 Archie comic book. Archie No. 1 marked the first time
the red-headed character appeared in his own magazine. Its pre-sale price
estimate is $150,000.

The five-session auction begins Monday Aug 3 and runs through Aug. 29.
