The New Vaudeville Band, was a novelty group established by the song’s composer, Geoff Stephens.
When "Suspicious Minds" reached the top of the Billboard chart, it
became Elvis Presley‘s 17th and final US number one hit during his
lifetime. It was recorded in a 4 to 7 AM session in January of 1969,
with the eighth take being the keeper.
The teaming of Dionne Warwick with The Spinners resulted in
both artists having their first number one hit when "Then Came
You" reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
The song was backed by the vocal group, The Del-Satins. It ranked #
342 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of
All Time".
"Save the Last Dance for Me" spent three non-consecutive weeks at the #1
Billboard Hot 100 position, in addition to spending one week atop the R&B
chart.
