SINGLE SET A RECORD ON THIS DAY IN 1962

 chubby_checker-king_of_twist

Chubby Checker’s "The Twist", which reached number one on the Billboard
chart on September 19th, 1960, made a surprise return on January 13, 1962
to the top spot on The Hot 100 for two weeks. It is the only Rock record by the
same artist to ever accomplish the feat. The song was written and originally
released in 1959 by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters.
