NUMBER THREE ON THIS DAY IN 1966

Frank Sinatra and his bride Mia Farrow

Sinatra married actress Mia Farrow in Las Vegas when she was 21 and he was
50. They met on the set of Sinatra’s 1965 film, Von Ryan’s Express. The marriage
fell apart and the couple divorced 18 months later in 1968.

WONDER – WRIGHT WEDDING ON THIS DAY IN 1970

Stevie Wonder ( born Stevland Hardaway Judkins) and Syretta Wright

At the age of 20, singer Stevie Wonder married 24 year old Syreeta Wright, a
songwriter and former Motown secretary. The couple worked together on the 
his album, Where I’m Coming From; with Wonder writing the music, and Wright
helping with the lyrics. The two divorced two years later.

Wright died on July 6, 2004 of congestive heart failure, a result of chemotherapy
and radiation treatments she was receiving for breast and bone cancers. She
was 57 years old.

JOHN’S FIRST MARRIAGE ON THIS DAY IN 1962

John Lennon and his wife Cynthia

John Lennon married his pregnant girlfriend, Cynthia Powell at the Mount
Pleasant Registry Office in Liverpool. Paul and George were the only others
in attendance. The couple tried to keep the marriage quiet, but they were
spotted coming out of the registry office. John and Cynthia divorced in
November of 1968.

Marilyn Monroe, one of the most celebrated women in history, married
playwright, Arthur Miller in White Planes, NY. After a stormy marriage,
Marilyn divorced Miller, citing her third marriage “incompatibility of
character”. The divorce of “The Egghead and The Hourglass”, as
often referred to by the press, was finalized in January 1961.
