“ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING”…. Public address announcer
Al Dvorin,pictured on the right, made what would become a well
known phrase at the end of an Elvis Presley concert in
Minneapolis. He was asked to make the announcement
in an effort to quiet the fans who continued to call for a
encore. Dvorin died in an auto accident in 2004.

”Baby Love.” Just four months earlier,the other Motown artists

Omnibus was a commercially sponsored,educational live TV series with
host Alistar Cooke. It aired on Sunday afternoons from November of
1952 until 1961 on CBS, and later switched to Sunday evenings on
ABC. It finally moved to the NBC network in 1957 where it remained
until 1961. ABC aired a brief revival of the series in 1981. The series
won more than 65 awards,including seven Emmy’s and two Peabody
awards.
