(February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865)

Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer and politician. He served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in
April 1865. Lincoln led the nation through the Civil War, its bloodiest
war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. He preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the government, 
and modernized the economy.

On this day in 1999, the U.S. Senate voted on whether to remove President Bill Clinton from office following an impeachment trial
which lasted five-weeks. Clinton was acquitted on both articles
of impeachment. On the first charge of perjury, 45 Democrats
and 10 Republicans voted “not guilty”and on the charge of
obstruction of justice the Senate was split 50-50.

After the trial concluded, President Clinton said he was “profoundly sorry” for the burden his behavior imposed on Congress and the American people.

Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United
States who led the country through the horrific American
Civil War. He also helped abolish slavery with the 13th
amendment.

Charles Robert Darwin
(February 12, 1809 – April 19, 1882)

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist, geologist and
biologist, best known for his contributions to the science
of evolution.

On this day in 1999, United States President Clinton was acquitted by       
the U.S. Senate on two impeachment articles. The charges were     
lying under oath to a federal grand jury and obstructing justice. He

Charles Monroe Schulz (November 26, 1922 – February 12, 2000)

Charles Schulz was a cartoonist best known for the comic strip Peanuts
which featured the characters Charlie Brown and Snoopy, among others. He
is widely regarded as one of the most influential cartoonists of all time, cited
as a major influence by many later cartoonists, including Jim Davis, Bill
Watterson, and Matt Groening.
