Remembering S&H Green Stamps booklets and stores: Vintage photos - al.com
S&H redemption centers numbered 600 nationwide by the 
mid-1960s.

S&H Green Stamps were the first trading stamps popular across
the U.S. and Europe, although the company did have competitors.

“S&H” stands for the Sperry & Hutchinson Co., founded by Thomas 
Sperry and Shelley Byron Hutchison in 1896.

Green Stamps were most widely distributed in the U.S. from the
1930s to the 1980s, with a peak in the 1960s and ’70s.

S&H Green Stamps were trading stamps popular in the from the
1930s until the late 1980s. They were distributed as part of a
rewards program operated by the Sperry & Hutchinson company
(S&H), founded in 1896 by
Thomas Sperry and Shelley Byron
Hutchinson
.

Customers would receive stamps at the checkout counter of many
supermarkets,
department stores, and gasoline stations among
other retailers, which could be redeemed for numerous products
in the
catalog (above).
