Arthur William Matthew Carney
(November 4, 1918 – November 9, 2003)

Art Carney was an actor and comedian. A recipient of an
Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and six Primetime
Emmy Awards, he was best known for his role as Ed Norton
on the sitcom The Honeymooners (below) (1955–1956).

John F. Kennedy, 43, becomes the youngest man ever to
be elected president of the United States, narrowly beating
Republican Vice President Richard Nixon. He was also the
first Catholic to become president.

William Franklin Graham Jr.
(November 7, 1918 – February 21, 2018)

Billy Graham was a evangelist, ordained Southern Baptist minister,
and civil rights advocate whose broadcasts and world crusades
featuring live sermons became well known in the mid-to-late 20th century. Throughout his career, spanning over six decades,
Graham rose to prominence as an evangelical Christian figure
in the United States and abroad. He died Feb. 21 at his home in
Montreat. He was 99.

On November 7, 1916, Montana suffragist Jeannette Rankin 
was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She is the
first woman in the history of the nation to win a seat in the
federal Congress.

On November 7, 1944, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was
elected to an unprecedented fourth term in office. FDR remains
the only president to have served more than two terms.
