their last broadcast of the “Amos ‘n’ Andy” show on
this date in 1960. The comedy series began on the
NBC Blue network 1929. The final  program aired
on the CBS radio network.

IT WAS A SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!

This Western drama started on radio beginning Saturday,
April 26, 1952 and ran till June 18, 1961. It was heard
on the CBS radio network(KOIN in Portland). The cast
included William Conrad as Marshal Matt Dillon, Howard
McNear as Doc Charles Adams,Georgia Ellis as Kitty
Russell, and Parley Baer as Dillon’s Deputy Chester
Proudfoot. The first episode was titled,”Billy The Kid”.
The show was set in Dodge City, Kansas during the
1870’s.

MEN ON THE MOON FOR A SECOND TIME

Apollo 12, the second manned mission to the moon was
launched on this date in 1969. The flight crew  included
Commander Charles”Pete”Conrad, Command Module
Pilot Richard F. Gordon and Lunar Module Pilot Alan L.
Bean. The mission ended on November 24th with a
successful splashdown.
