THE GRAND OLE OPRY IS ON THE AIR!

Opry debuted on Nashville’s radio station WSM.
The weekly country music concert has been
presenting the biggest names in the field and
is among the longest-running radio shows in
the history.
The Delmore Brothers with Uncle Dave Macon (seated) were
among the first stars of the weekly country music show.

THE FIRST “JUKEBOX” ON THIS DATE IN 1889
The first Jukebox, originally called the “nickel-in-the-slot player”,
made it’s debut at The Palais Royale Saloon in San Francisco. It
was constructed by The Pacific Phonograph company. Patrons
listened to the music through individual stethoscope-like tubes
attached to an Edison electric phonograph which was fitted
inside a wood cabinet.
