Michael Edward "Mike" Love  is a singer/songwriter and musician with
The Beach Boys. He formed the band along with his cousins Brian, Carl,
and Dennis Wilson along with a friend Al Jardine. The group was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

DEAN TORRENCE TURNED 71 TODAY

Dean Torrence (above) along with William Jan Berry were Jan and Dean, a 
rock and roll duo, popular from the late 1950s through the mid 1960s.They
became associated with the vocal "surf music" craze that was popularized by
The Beach Boys. Berry (Jan) died March 26, 2004. Torrence tours occasionally
with The Surf City Allstars.

JOHN COWSILL IS 55 TODAY

John Cowsill best known for his work as a singer and drummer with his
siblings’ band, The Cowsells. He is currently a drummer and vocalist for
The Beach Boys touring band, which features original Beach Boys Mike
Love and Bruce Johnston. He also has performed and recorded with
Jan and Dean.

PHIL EVERLY IS 72 YEARS OLD TODAY

Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers, the most successful rock
and roll duo on the Hot 100 charts from 1957 to 1965. Phil 
along with his older brother Don had a strong influence on 
rock groups of the 1960’s. The Beatles and The Beach 
Boys developed their early singing styles by covering
Everly  Brothers songs.

IT WAS #1 ON THIS DATE IN 1976 AND BARRY DIDN’T WRITE IT!

This Barry Manilow song was written by Bruce Johnston of The Beach
Boys.
It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated 
for Record of the Year in 1977. It became one of Manilow’s signature
songs.
